Brand Name: Mucomyst, Mucosil

Acetylcysteine is mucolytic medication. Mucolytics dissolve and destroy mucus that builds up in the lungs. Primarily administered through inhalation, Acetylcysteine is prescribed for lung conditions that result in difficulty breathing from mucus build up (including chronic bronchitis and COPD). This prescription medication should only be taken in accordance with your doctor's instructions.
